Council Reviews Water System Study, Approves Final Plat For Subdivision

City of Hillsboro Receives Clean 2022-23 Audit.
The Hillsboro City Council heard a report on the city's recent water system study, approved the final plat for the first phase of a large subdivision and reviewed the 2022-23 city audit during a regular meeting held Tuesday, June 18.
MRB Group presented a water model and system improvement plan that the engineering firm was asked to create by the city. The study identified areas that have historically high maintenance, high water main leak potential and undersized capacity with respect to potential growth in the near future.
As part of the study, a phased improvement plan was presented to reduce future water loss and repair efforts.
The city's existing water system consists of three elevated storage tanks, and water mains are primarily cast iron, asbestos cement and PVC and range in size from 2” to 16” throughout the system.
